The Chaplain-President was honoured to be invited to a conference organised by Bishop Mark on Anglican education in Europe held on 10-13 August at the Schloss Fürstenreid in Munich. An impressive array of world Anglican theologians was present, including amongst others Mgr Ian Ernest (formerly archbishop of the Indian Ocean and now director of the Anglican Centre in Rome (The Anglican Centre in Rome ), Mgr James Tengatenga (formerly bishop of Southern Malawi and now professor of Global Anglicanism at Sewanee (James Tengatenga | School of Theology | University of the South (sewanee.edu) ), Profs Ian Markham, Melody Knowles and Katherine Grieb from Virginia Theological Seminary (Faculty | Virginia Theological Seminary (vts.edu) ), Prof Charlotte Methuen of the University of Glasgow (University of Glasgow - Schools - School of Critical Studies - Our staff - Dr Charlotte Methuen ) and Canon Mpho Tutu (daugher of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu: Home - Mpho Tutu Van Furth ). Ideas were exchanged about how best to present Anglicanism to a European audience thirsty for acquaintance with our tradition.
