Welcome to Anglican Religious Education

Did you know that Anglican Religious Education (A.R.E.) is part of the educational syllabus as one of the compulsory school subjects in Flanders and Brussels? A.R.E. can be requested by parents for their children in any communal and state school at primary and secondary level. The teaching language is Flemish.

A.R.E. teachers have pedagogical & subject specific training.


Thinking of becoming an A.R.E. teacher?

A.R.E. teachers are required to have a degree in theology or religious education as well as qualifications in pedagogical studies. In certain cases, it may be possible to start teaching during the time of study.

  1. Fluent in Flemish

  2. Baptised

  3. Police record clearance
